Police warn of AI voice-cloning phone scams
Fraudsters are using cloned voices of family members to demand urgent payments.
Lakeshore County Police say they have received more than 40 reports of the scam in the last month.
If a call feels urgent and emotional, hang up and call back on a number you trust.
Officers advise families to agree a code word that can be used to verify a caller’s identity.
